Compound Rite: Utopia or Oblivion (II)

object, faux fur, sphere, 25 in (63.5 cm), 8.3 in (21 cm) / set, wood board, paint, projector, latex fabric, steel pipe, size variable

Rooted in nomadic philosophies and art, Compound Rite: Utopia or Oblivion works with dance, choreographic sculpture, and moving image to reimagine a ritual that establishes a new relationship with The Rite of Spring (Stravinsky, 1913), transcending the Rite’s themes of dualism and fear, seeking a spring in a post-metaphysical world.

An order is sensed, but always tenuous.
A world in disorder, where objects and bodies linked by the absurd logic of chaos and creation.
A continuous spiral constituted by infinite spheres rising slowly then falling transiently.
